Warrior
Fighters represent the rank and file of those adventurers who seek to solve problems by the application of direct physical force. Their field of expertise is, of course, weapons and combat skills, but they also can pick up some related non-combat skills. The fighter advances quickly, moreso than the various specialized warrior types.

Thief
Thieves are a marginal class. They do few things better than any other class, but have the widest range of skills available. Cleric
Clerics are the most defensively orientated of all the classes. Most of their spells focus on healing or defending the faithful, with their few combat spells being far less powerful than those of mages. However, clerics are the best class by far at healing magics, and they posess an impressive area of protective magics, as well as fair combat prowess.

Mage
Although mages specialize in casting spells, they cast no better than most. Mages have the highest-powered magic of any class, and are the only classes able to use the draconian and enchanting spell groups. They are also very skilled at the use of magical items, though their combat skills are the weakest of any class.

Samurai
Samurai are warriors whose lives are based on honor, with the exception of the Ronin (lordless samurai). Paladin
Paladins are fighters devoted to fighting the all-encompassing battle between good and evil and often develop their own peculiar ideas about the religion they are professing. Paladins sometimes generate these ideas from visions they receive while in altered mental states. Paladins are unfailingly egocentric. This is what set them on the career path that they're on, as opposed to simply joining the military or clergy. They often make themselves out as prophets or even gods, and more or less believe this delusion. The culmination of the Paladin Syndrome is a powerful warrior with divine gifts, making a truly formidable foe to the opposing moral power.

Assassin
Assassins are merciless killers for hire. They will bring in a bounty dead or alive without a tinge of guilt either way. Most typically prefer the "dead" option, but will take live bounties for the right price. Unscrupulous assassins have collected on their best friends, on their siblings or parents. The only person no bounty hunter has yet been known to collect on is themselves, but certainly if the truth were untangled, there would probably be a few cases of this, now that death is dead. The fact that there is no longer a definative end to life has put a crimp in the assassins livelihood, but not in their passion for their work; Assassins still love to hack or explode their victims into tiny bits, even if they know they'll be back later.
**WARNING: All Assassins begin the game as permanent pkillers.**

Monks scorn the use of weapons. At high levels, they may learn a few weapons, but they more or less limit themselves to the use of their own bodies as tools of defense. They have mastered the martial arts, and can often accomplish more with their bodies than any barbarous warrior can with their swords.

They fight to preserve order and the privilege that lets such as they remain in the noble class. Despite their religious rites, beliefs, and dogma, they do not preach to the masses, although they do impose their morals on them. Templars are the lawyers, beurocrats, police, and officials who hold Bastion together.
